In this project, We were tasked with designing a device to move a vertical, 12 inch aluminum rod ten feet in the shortest possible time without the rod falling over. In achieving this goal, we created a CAD model of our cart and ran a simulation to determine what approximate velocity path the motor should follow for the best results. We decided on a three wheel design for better traction on the wheel connected to the motor and bearings in the other wheels to reduce friction. In the end, we actually exceeded the results from our simulation with a time of just under 8 seconds and the bar did not topple.
